Hailing on the West side of Cincinnati, Mt. Healthy has been around for over 200 years. According to the city’s website, it was renamed from Mt. Pleasant to Mt. Healthy when, in 1849, a local cholera outbreak drove citizens to flee to the area in search of sanctuary from the disease. The city has deep historical roots, as many homes in the area served as refuge in the Underground Railroad system during the Civil War. Today, it is conveniently located right off of I-275 and Ronald Reagan Highway. The community hosts local events to bring its people together including: two free community dinners every week, hosted on Tuesday nights by St. Paul United Church of Christ, and on Thursday nights by Trinity Lutheran Church. For the local live music lovers, there is a free summer concert series every Friday night, from June-August. It is surrounded by: Northgate, Winton Woods, Finneytown, and North College Hill.

SCHOOLS

At this time only public schools directly reside within Mt. Healthy School District. There was a private grade school, Assumption, located in the area. However, in 2008, Assumption, St. Ann, St. Margaret Mary, and St. Therese Little Flower parishes combined to become one school: Our Lady of Grace. OLG is located in the Cincinnati suburb of Groesbeck, only a ~10 minute drive for most Mt.Healthy residents. Although there is no private high school located in Mt. Healthy, St. Xavier High School, LaSalle, Roger Bacon, Mount Notre Dame, and Mercy McAuley are within a 15 minute drive.
