Historians believe that the city of Amelia was first settled in 1809 — the city was named after a woman who was a well-known operator of the Ohio turnpike tollgate. Today Amelia is located east of the City of Cincinnati, outside the 275 loop. It is south of Batavia, north of New Richmond, and west of Bethel. The city’s website has an informative page for people who are, “New In Town,” as well as highlighting the local government officials, updated community events, & additional helpful information. The community hosts a variety of events for its residents, such as a Halloween Festival, a city-wide Yard Sale, and a Garden Club.
